Donald Trump just threw Rudy Giuliani under the bus
“I don’t know anything about the letter.” That’s all that Donald Trump could come up with during his press conference today, after yesterday’s bombshell revelation that his personal attorney Rudy Giuliani wrote a letter to the President of Ukraine, seeking corrupt help in rigging the 2020 U.S. presidential election. That’s about as weak as you can get, but it still means Trump is throwing Rudy under the bus.
So now we’re supposed to believe that Rudy Giuliani sent this letter, in which he specified that he was acting with Donald Trump’s knowledge and consent, and Rudy was just… lying about this? We wouldn’t put anything past Rudy at this point, as he lies every time he opens his mouth. But the idea that Rudy would make up something this oddly specific is hilarious. If Rudy were lying, he would have gotten caught the next time the President of Ukraine spoke with Trump.
Trump’s standard MO is that once his henchmen get caught, he claims they were just the coffee boy, or that he’s never even met them. And whenever one of Trump’s henchmen gets caught committing a specific crime, Trump always claims he knew nothing about it. While we don’t have physical proof that Trump knew about Rudy’s letter (beyond the fact that we all intuitively know he did), Rudy surely does have such proof.
That means Donald Trump is playing a dangerous game by throwing Rudy Giuliani under the bus. We just saw Lev Parnas bring the receipts in terms of how he was carrying out crimes under the instruction of Trump and Rudy. Now Trump risks pushing Rudy into doing the same by alienating him. Rudy’s arrest is coming sooner or later. We’ll see what he does once he feels the handcuffs.
