The
President of the Italian Republic
July 4, 2017
His
Excellency Donald J. Trump
President
of the United States of America
Washington,
DC
On the occasion of the 241st
anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, I would like to extend my own
personal best wishes, and those of the Italian people, to the United States of
America.
The friendship between our nations has deep
roots which span political and economic aspects as well as pivotal social,
scientific, academic and cultural exchanges. The presence of an increasingly
active and well integrated large Italian-American community in the United
States has, over time, helped to forge a solid alliance and relationship based
on mutual trust.
In the context of this transatlantic framework, it is my sincere hope that
such intense and productive collaboration can be further strengthened both
bilaterally and within the major international fora, thus increasing the
effectiveness of the work of nations that, like ours, hold dear our shared values
of freedom, democracy and justice.
With the much appreciated memory of our recent meetings in Italy last
May, and would like to take this opportunity to renew my warmest wishes of
well-being to you and to our friends, the people of the United States of
America.
